A compact, high-efficiency system designed for a tailor-made project

Context & Challenge

As part of the remodeling of the Intermarché Beaulieu Poitiers, the supermarket needed to modernize its refrigeration plant to adopt a solution that was more efficient, compact, and environmentally friendly.

Two key challenges were identified:

• Installing a high-capacity CO₂ central system in a machine room with restricted space.
  
  
• Meeting the demands for performance, energy efficiency, and long-term sustainability, while reducing the store’s carbon footprint.
  
  

Each installation is unique, and this project required a custom-built solution adapted to the specific technical constraints of the site.

The Friga-Bohn Solution

Working in partnership with Axima Réfrigération France, Friga-Bohn provided a CO₂LD transcritical central system designed in two separate sections to optimize access and installation within the machine room.

Key features of the installation:

• Refrigeration production:
  
  
• 2 LT compressors = 21 kW
  
  
• 5 MT compressors = 252 kW
  
  
• 2 parallel compressors = 43 kW
  
  
• Compressor & reservoir racks:
  
  
• BITZER compressor rack: 5300 x 1000 x 2400
  
  
• Combined ejector & receiver rack: 3500 x 1000 x 2400
  
  
• Heat recovery: two systems of 170 kW and 200 kW to reclaim waste energy.
  
  
• Danfoss Climate Solutions regulation: automatic + backup control linked to an uninterruptible power supply.
  
  
• NEOSTAR anticorrosion gas cooler (415 kW): equipped with EC motors, noise attenuators, proximity switches, and floating coil technology.
  
  
• Electrical cabinets:
  
  
• Custom central cabinet above the compressors with integrated energy meter to save space.
  
  
• Distribution cabinet with 10 m slack and quick connections, also including an energy meter.
  
  
• Commercial evaporators: PS 60 Bar models designed for CO₂ applications.
